What happens during your site survey?
09 June 2017
TouchStar has a long record of helping organisations keep their premises, staff and other valuable assets protected from harm.
A key part of our success in the sector is our understanding of each organisation we work with – the more we know about our customers and how they operate, the better positioned we are to help them achieve their security objectives.
This is why our site surveys are such an important part of the process.
The objective
Our aim when conducting a site survey is to understand you as a customer – this means learning about the situation you’re in at present and where you want to be in the near future. Your needs will help us determine which access control set-up is right for you, and how best to implement it.
After initial greetings and introductions, we’ll look to obtain the information we need to put a proposal together. To do this, we must ask and answer various questions:
Where have you come from?
We’ll look to find out about how your business has evolved to this point, and how you ended up with your current system. This kind of information will help us understand your motivations and restrictions, and how long the existing system has been in place.
What challenges have you encountered?
Your reasons for installing the existing system are important, so we’ll look at which of your original challenges were successfully addressed and which weren’t. If those same problems are still affecting your business, we can work at fixing them with the new system.
What still works?
If some parts of your system are still up to the task, there may not be reason to change them – we’ll always try to re-use as much of the working solution as possible to keep costs and disruption minimal for you.
Where are the gaps?
We’re always on the lookout for ways to improve your security; by identifying gaps in your existing system, we can determine which features your new set-up should include. This way, we can ensure you get the best return on your investment, and that all your current problems are addressed.
What does the future hold?
We’re determined to provide a product and service that benefits your business straight away, but it’s also important that we consider the future. We’ll look closely at your business’s roadmap to ensure the solution we propose is suitably scalable – if you’re expecting to double in size over the next five years, for example, you’ll need an access control system ready to account for that.
The proposal
With some first-hand experience of your organisation as it is at present, and all of the questions above answered, we’re ready to put together a proposal – giving you options to consider and a chance to see exactly what’s available. We’ll always stay flexible too, so you’re sure to find a solution that fits your needs and budget perfectly.
